Strawberries and Cream Mocktail

This Strawberries and Cream Mocktail recipe is the perfect refreshing beverage! A splash of cream makes this mocktail reminiscent of a strawberry creamsicle. Enjoy an easy mocktail recipe without the hangover you’d get from alcohol.

I personally have found mocktail-making at home to bring me a lot of comfort as a former alcohol drinker. I used to love ordering craft cocktails, but after one horrible hangover in 2020, I decided to give it up for good, and I will never go back! This Strawberries & Cream Mocktail reminds me of drinking a mixed drink on a patio on a hot summer day.

Alcohol-Free Strawberries and Cream Mocktail

Whether you’re serving up some pretty-in-pink drinks for your Valentine’s Day (or Galentine’s Day!) or you’re prepping some alcohol-free drinks for your backyard summer barbecue, these Strawberries and Cream Mocktails are perfect for any occasion. This easy mocktail recipe is a great way to have fun with an adult beverage without the alcohol. The fresh strawberries, raspberries, and lemon make this bright drink perfectly refreshing for a hot day or a girl’s night any time of year!

I personally love life even more without alcohol. I slowly stopped drinking starting in 2020 after one horrible wine-induced hangover at the start of the pandemic. After debilitating dehydration and anxiety took over my body for two days, I decided to give it up, slowly at first and now for good. I’ll still allow myself an alcoholic beverage if it’s part of a cultural experience in another country (you bet your bottom dollar I took a shot of moonshine in Costa Rica, and enjoyed an Aperol Spritz on a patio in Portugal), but beyond that, I never drink alcohol at home or anywhere in the US anymore. Everything has improved since giving up alcohol, from my skin to my energy and so much more.

Ingredients for a Strawberries & Cream Mocktail

  • Strawberries. To make a strawberry simple syrup you can use either fresh or frozen (I prefer fresh)
  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Heavy cream. Or lighten it up a little with half & half instead!
  • Sparkling water. You can use plain, strawberry, raspberry, or lemon flavored sparkling water. I used the Strawberry Lemon flavor of Pippi Prebiotic Soda!

How to Make a Strawberries & Cream Mocktail

  1. Make the strawberry simple syrup. Add 1 cup of strawberries to a saucepan with 1/4 cup of sugar and 6 tbsp water. Simmer for 20 minutes, then transfer to a blender. Blend, then strain into a jar with a lid using a fine mesh sieve. Let cool to room temperature.
  2. Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add strawberry simple syrup, lemon juice, heavy cream, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake well, then strain into two glasses.
  3. Top with sparkling water. Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water (pour slowly, as it will foam!). Top with raspberries, add a straw, and enjoy!

FAQs

Mocktail vs Cocktail: What’s the difference?

A cocktail is a mixed drink that includes alcohol along with other ingredients such as juices, syrups, sodas, and bitters. A mocktail is all of that minus the alcohol. A mocktail is a great alternative for those who are curious about a sober lifestyle. My partner and I no longer drink alcohol, but we still enjoy a zero-proof beverage at a bar or restaurant from time to time to engage in the ritual of drinking a fancy beverage while out on the town.

Why do people drink mocktails?

There are plenty of reasons why someone would choose to drink a mocktail! Someone might have an allergy to alcohol but still wants to participate in drinking a fancy beverage. Someone with an alcohol addiction might find comfort in having a beverage in hand at a social gathering. A pregnant woman might crave a cocktail but cannot drink alcohol while pregnant. Someone might just prefer to not drink alcohol, just because! Mocktails are a great way to still enjoy a fancy mixed drink without the side effects of drinking alcohol, such as the headache, dehydration, and hangover.

Can I make this mocktail vegan?

Yes! A delicious replacement for heavy cream is coconut milk or coconut cream.
